Aqua Explorer is a combined initiative of BioExplorer inc. BioExplorer was launched in 2003 as a innovative spin-off company of the Van Hall Institute and the Wageningen University, The Netherlands. BioExplorer's prime focus is on contract-research in industrial microbiology and on microbiological production of several spin-off products for the consumer market. BioExplorer currently is a 12 person operation.
Combining in scientific expertise with business development knowledge yielded an entity with strong marketing power, extensive knowledge and a complete range of equipment ranging from analytical instruments able to measure minute amounts of pollutants or DNA to pilot plants capable of chemical, physical and microbiological strategies of water purification. Primary focus of Aqua Explorer on total solutions within the vast field of watermanagement immediately proved to fulfill an existing but yet unrecognized market gap.

Immediately a series of high-profile R&D-projects concerned with chemical and biological purification were initiated and successfully implemented. These projects were all confined to the Dutch market. Also some small scale projects concerned with rapid detection of micro organisms were developed and implemented. Administrative and quality control systems were adjusted to this situation of fast expansion.
The year 2005 also saw the first broadening of both the engineering and analytical spectrum of Aqua Explorer. Effort was put into the development of a mobile, completely autonomous system for microbial detection and an innovative installation for the off-shore treatment of ballastwater was designed, developed, validated and registered under Lloyds accreditation.
In the meantime several (international) projects already rigged, with partners as b.e. PWN and Aqwise.
